This term our read aloud novel has been The Search for Delicious by Natalie Babbitt. Johnny has
demonstrated excellent listening ability and enthusiasm for the story. He is becoming more able to offer direct
responses to his listening experiences supported by reasons, examples, and details. A focus for growth for
Johnny would be to reread what he has written to make sure sentences are complete and make sense.
Johnny has put good effort into handwriting and is, with extra assistance, able to follow directions
accurately but needs considerable practice in letter formation, spacing, directionality, the joining of letters and
neatness.
Math
- is able to calculate addition and subtraction facts to 18 confidently and accurately. A further goal
for Johnny would be to increase speed without loss of accuracy.
- is able to demonstrate place value concepts to give meaning to numbers 0 to 1000, identifying 1s,
10s, and 100s.
- is able to compare numbers to 1000 using terms such as greater or less and greatest or least.
- is able to demonstrate and describe the process of addition of whole numbers up to 100 with and
without regrouping. Johnny has achieved an average of 89% on the weekly Math tests. Good for you!
